Missa Lucis

Available from Kerry Marsh Music, this original multimovement work for choir, soloist(s), and rhythm section was first written as one of my doctoral recitals. It is performable by both jazz choirs and traditional concert choirs, and is available for purchase either as a complete work (for $300.00 plus copying license) or as individual movements (coming soon). A choir/piano score will also be available for purchase soon for those participating in MidAmerica Productions' performance of the work at Carnegie Hall in June 2022! Book - Jazz Singing: Developing Artistry and Authenticity, by Diana Spradling

Diana Spradling's groundbreaking book was the first of its kind to define what jazz singers do physically and vocally, based on four years of acoustic research. Justin wrote the section of the book dedicated to improvisation: "The Art and Craft of Scat Singing," which includes transcriptions and analyses of six iconic scat solos. This arrangement puts an Afro-Cuban spin on a Carol Welsman original, and is an excellent chart to feature the rhythm section. Available only as an SATB version with rhythm section. Level 4, $65.00.

I Remember Clifford

A tribute to the jazz legend, written for the Clifford Brown 80th Birthday Symposium, this ballad features lush background vocals and is ideal for a tenor or high baritone soloist. Available only as an SATB version with rhythm section. Level 3, $65.00.

Melancholy Baby/Melancólico

This unique chart pays tribute to a pair of wonderful vocal jazz charts: Phil Mattson's arrangement of "Melancholy Baby," and Clare Fischer's "Melancólico." Combining elements of salsa, mambo, and merengue, this chart is designed to showcase both the vocals and the rhythm section equally. Available only as an SATB version with rhythm section. Level 4, $65.00.

Moondance

Adapted from Bobby McFerrin's iconic cover of the classic Van Morrison tune, this chart is designed to truly pursh a vocal jazz ensemble, while exposing them to one of the greatest scat solos ever recorded. Featuring a new vocalese lyric written to McFerrin's scat solo, this chart is available in both SATB and SATB+Horn Section versions. Level 4, $65.00 for the SATB version, $100 for the SATB+Horns version.

There Is No Greater Love

This up-tempo burner is available in SATB, SSAA, TTBB, SATB+Big Band, and SSAA+Big Band formats, and is a perfect concert opener or closer, and provides ample opportunity for vocal and instrumental improv soloists. Coal and Diamonds

Part of a series of settings of poems from Kathryn Sparks' wonderful collection, "Lullabies and Nocturnes," this original bossa nova for SATB choir and rhythm section is based on a reharmonzation of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star," and features lush harmonic textures that complement Kathryn's beautiful poem. Reparations

Another setting from "Lullabies and Nocturnes," this original neo-soul work for SATB choir and rhythm section features sweeping textural effects to augment Kathryn's gorgeous poetry.
